Birdsong padded up to a patch of some herbs, a few fox lengths from the edge of the abyss. she sniffed the plants, and turned around, to see if Swiftpaw had followed he here. she placed the herbs she was already holding onto the ground.

Swiftpaw padded up next to Birdsong. "So, this is were Abysclan gets there name from..." she said, staring down the big abys. She turned to Birdsong, "I hope we don't have to climb down THAT..." said Swiftpaw.

"get away from there! you could fall!" Birdsong yowled, at the apprentice. she quickly padded over to Swiftpaw, and nudged the young cat away from the edge. "that was very dangerous! stay over here, and help gather herbs, instead of gawking at the abyss." she mewed. Birdsong bent over a patch of herbs, and mewed, "this is Horsetail. it helps prevent infection, and is used to soothe and heal infected wounds."

Swiftpaw nodded, looking at the herb. "Horsetail, used to prevent infections, soothes and heals infected wounds wounds..." Swiftpaw repeated to herself. "Is it just found here?"

"no, it grows in other places in the territory as well, but this is the biggest patch of this herb." Birdsong mewed. she started picking tall stalks of the plant, and placing them in a small pile to carry back to the camp.
(are you gonna have flypaw come in at some point?)

(Yes. But I don't think you would appreciate being scared to death this near the abyss...he will surprise you,though...)
Swiftpaw started to help pick out the herbs when she herd a twig break behind her. She turned her head but did not see anything, and went back to picking herbs with Birdsong.

(they're not at the edge though, they're a few fox-lengths from it right now. which is about a few feet.)
The soon gathered a good-sized pile of Horsetail. "that's enough for now, i think." Birdsong mewed to Swiftpaw. she picked up some of the pile, and flicked her tail towards the remaining pieces of Horsetail, meaning for Swiftpaw to pick them up.

Swiftpaw obediantly picked up the Horsetail, than looked over to the trees. There sttod a quiet cat, watching them.
Flypaw took a step forward, knowing very well that they saw him. He looked at both cats with amusement in his eyes.
Swiftpaw curiously looked at the cat, than turned to Birdsong to see if she knew who the tom was.

Birdsong stared at the new cat. She placed her herbs on the gound. "who are you?" she asked the cat, wondering if he was supposed to be in a clan or not.

"...are you going to run also?" asked Flypaw. "Cats ran...thought I would kill them..." Flypaw was a little bigger than regular cats his age, and because of this, they had run away from him.
Swiftpaw set down her herbs. "We won't run if you tell us who you are..." she said, half lying. If this cat was going to kill them, she would fight him, than run.
"Flypaw...I am not in a group like you...because cats run...always...but I do nothing..." said Flypaw, dipping his head to stare at his paws.

"hmm.....well, if you'd like, i'll ask our leader if you can join our clan...." Birdsong mewed to Flypaw. She wondered if the tom had any wounds, that she could heal. "so.....where do you come from?" she questioned.

Flypaw instantly looked up at the cat. "I just come from the forest. I have lived in a cave down below, near the bottom of the abyss." said Flypaw. "I don't have any parents that I know of." he said.
Swiftpaw looked at Flypaw in wonder. "You live in a cave at the bottom of this abyss? Hard life." she said.
Flypaw looked at Swiftpaw for a second, than back at Birdsong. "Would your leader allow that?" he asked.

Flypaw nodded at Swiftpaw, "and you?" he asked, nodding to the other cat.
